Day 30: Thu 9 Jun - Port Lincoln to Streaky Bay 302km, 11-18deg, windy with showers

Another night of wild windy weather, would have blown the dog off the chain! It's times like these we thank goodness we are in a weatherproof and solid van, not a tent.

Got underway at 8am under ominous looking skies. Rain on and off (mostly on) for the first 170km, which was at Elliston where we pulled in for a cuppa. The local info centre building was a real work of art, fully painted with murals on the outside; very impressive.

Arrived at Streaky Bay at 12:35pm. Due to a solid tail wind, the fuel we used today was about half the previous driving day. The wind is good for something. SB has a great location for a van park, right on the beach.

Had lunch down on the beach amongst the seagulls and then wandered into town for a look. By this time the wind had dropped to a slight breeze. Nice little place SB, with a not-so-little jetty. Last night (allegedly) a sizable motor cruiser had been ripped from its moorings by the wind and had come to grief up against the jetty. Looks like a very expensive mistake.

Dinner at the pub tonight (that's what happens at home on a Thu night), spaghetti carbonara for Wendy, Chinese seafood stir fry for Greg. Very nice meals, a little more expensive than the Howard Pub, but a little more "nice" too.

Another pretty sky
