Day 25: Sat 4 Jun - Adelaide, 3-18deg, mostly sunny, with a very sneaky breeze

It was a chilly 3 deg on the walk this morning although it soon warmed up. Wendy got stuck into her washing and repacking her Army stuff into a suitcase after her trip to Sydney. After a leisurely mornos it was onto the bikes for lunch with a couple of Army friends (both in the Army) from Wendy's very early Sydney days and both of our Townsville days. On the way we called into the National Wine Centre for a look only. A wonderful showcase for Aussie wines.

On to lunch. Ian and Vanessa have done a wonderful job renovating and extending their 100+ year old house in the southern suburbs. Very tastefully furnished, painted, and decorated in the appropriate style. Well done Ian and Vanessa. Lunch was yummy; great tender steak with a pumpkin salad followed by a "log" of pavlova filled with fluffy creamy stuff, berries and other stuff. Lucky we're riding. 26 km round trip.

We spent the rest of the afternoon packing up the awning and other stuff we won't need overnight, ready for our departure in the morning.

Dinner was with Symen (Army mate Greg had caught up with earlier in the week) and his wife Fi, who teaches English to migrants: a tough gig. A real privilege to be spoilt two meals in one day; vegetarian this time. A real surprise when the meat-lover Wendy really enjoyed it as did the veggie-loving Greg. Symen and Fi also have a great old house full of character.

A fantastic day with four wonderful friends.
