Today we take to the car,
awful!! Only because the distances are too great to cycle or walk and we want
to see a large portion of the National Park. After a brisk (very close to frost
this morning) walk to watch the sunrise and a quick breakfast, we ventured
northward towards Parachilna. We were soon on a gravel road which took us
through some stunning gorges, dry creek beds and valleys. Bunyeroo, Brachina
and Parachilna to name a few. The variety of the geological features was
enormous and the upheaval of the earth that made these ranges must have been significant.
Plenty of roos, emus and birds; yes and a very big feral cat. We wished we were
armed. Parachilna was a one pub
(that's about it). Blinman, however also
had a general store and a disused copper mine. Oh and really nice BIG beef
pies! 176km round trip, about 80 on gravel.
A LLD was followed by work
for Wendy (need to keep Greg in the lifestyle etc) and a local walk for Greg. A very delightful evening was spent
with Sue and Terry at Rawnsley Station. We hope to catch up again when we reach
the West. The drive home along a
roo infested road was very slow and a bit nerve racking as they tried hard to
commit suicide on our bumper. We managed to make it back to the van without any
harm to the truck or local wildlife.
