This
trip was conceived not long after we arrived home from our cycle tour of
Southern Germany last year. We had
obviously acquired a bad case of itchy feet in Germany! To prepare for van travel and living, we did a
few short trips, between 3 and 14 days, to a longer trip of 5 weeks. We were supposed to go with Gunther and
Yvonne, however Gunther hurt his back about 4 weeks before the EDD, and it
steadily got worse. He then suggested
that we head off on our own, with the hope they could catch up with us
somewhere along the track. This was not
to be, so it was just the two of us, all the way. Well, we certainly enjoyed the travel aspect,
got to see a lot of Australia we had never seen before, but did not enjoy the
days of bleak, wintery weather. We knew
it would be cold, but not quite as much rain.
We will certainly return to many of the places we visited, perhaps with
Gunther and Yvonne, but when it is not winter!
